Hearth of the home. |
The owner wanted the television at eye level and the cupboard in oak to match the oak floor, which incidentally I laid 10 years ago.
He also wanted an oak mantelpiece. This could have been done in many different ways, but having a floating shelf brings the whole room bang up to date, leaving clean lines, so the area does not look cluttered. The stove is quite contemporary, but having a wood burner and using traditional materials such as oak and stone, makes a contemporary statement fit into a 100 year old home.
The stone for the fire place came from DT Stone.
Many thanks to Nickingamellsphotography.co.uk for taking this lovely shot.
